Updated over 5 months ago

People is where you manage profiles for individuals like artists, performers, speakers, or staff members. These profiles can be linked to events, works, and other content, creating a richly interconnected experience on your website.

You can start creating people profiles directly from the Dashboard or within the People section, which is found under the "Event Model" group in the main navigation.

1. Profile Details

Found under the "Profile" tab, this section captures the essential information about the individual.

  • Display Name (name):

    • What it is: The person's full name as it will appear on the website. This is a required field.

    • How to use: Enter the name you want visitors to see, such as "Dr. Jane Doe."

  • First Name (firstName) and Last Name (lastName):

    • What it is: The person's given and family names. First Name is required.

    • How to use: If a person is known by a single name (mononymous), you can enter it in the First Name field and leave Last Name blank.

  • Pronouns (pronouns):

    • What it is: An optional field for the person's pronouns.

    • How to use: Enter their preferred pronouns, such as "she/her" or "they/them".

  • Biography (biography):

    • What it is: A detailed description of the person.

    • How to use: Use the rich text editor to write a biography. This field is localized, so you can provide different versions for multiple languages.

2. Content

Found under the "Content" tab, this is where you can build out a unique page for the person using the Basker block editor.

  • Content Blocks (blocks):

    • What it is: A flexible, block-based editor for adding rich content.

    • How to use: Add and arrange various content blocks like text, images, galleries, or videos to create a comprehensive profile page. For more details, see the Blocks guide.

3. Page URL and Template

These settings, found in the sidebar, control the person's web address and page layout.

  • Slug (slug):

    • What it is: The unique, URL-friendly identifier for the person.

    • How to use: This is automatically generated from the Display Name but can be unlocked and edited if needed.

  • Template (template):

    • What it is: This setting determines the overall design used for the person's profile page. Your website developer can create multiple templates to choose from.

    • How to use: In most cases, this will be pre-selected. If multiple options are available, select the one that best fits the person's profile.

4. Main Image

  • Main Image (image):

    • What it is: The primary profile picture for the person.

    • How to use: Upload an image in the sidebar. This will be used as the main visual representation in listings and on their profile page.

5. Theme Settings

Found under the "Theme" tab, these settings allow you to fine-tune the appearance of the profile page. This tab is only available for custom themes.

  • What it is: Special options created by your website developer that let you customize how a specific profile page looks without writing any code.

  • How to use: The available options depend on your active theme. You might find settings to change color schemes or adjust layouts.

6. Custom Attributes

Found under the "Attributes" tab, this section allows you to add extra, structured information to a profile.

  • What it is: Custom data fields for storing information not covered by the standard fields, such as a person's Role or Department.

  • How to use: You can add and manage this data here. This is an advanced feature that can be configured to meet your organization's specific needs.

7. SEO

Found under the "SEO" tab, these fields help you optimize the person's profile page for search engines.

  • What it is: Allows you to customize the meta title, meta description, and meta image.

  • How to use: Fill in these fields to control how the page appears in search engine results and when shared on social media. A preview shows you how it will look.

8. Workflow and Permissions

  • Versioning: People profiles benefit from version history, drafts, and scheduled publishing, just like Pages and Events.

  • Permissions: Access is controlled by people:view, people:manage, and people:delete permissions, which can be managed in Users & Permissions.
